RBL Commercial Interiors

Republic Bank, founded as Colonial Bank in 1837, is Trinidad and Tobago's first commercial bank. With 184 years of history, the institution has expanded across the Caribbean but faced challenges in maintaining a cohesive brand identity amid changing market trends and consumer preferences. Embracing a brand architecture strategy, Republic Bank sought to revolutionise the banking experience by seamlessly integrating elements of modern design while preserving the institution's historical legacy.

Central to this transformation was the development of a comprehensive project brief, essential for reimagining the interior layout to accommodate the innovative approach in new and existing branches ensuring flexibility across different settings. An in-depth analysis was conducted through extensive research and compiled insights on a varied range of existing branches that had different design strategies and spatial elements. A case study was then conducted on an existing branch - RBL UWI, originally designed by ACLA in 2013.
